Nicholas Paton Philip
As we dig
into the dark recesses
of the ordered surface
surprises are unearthed
an idea is born
cherished as original
personalised and given form
it becomes public property
open to multiple interpretations
over time it can lose its sheen
grow tarnished and decay
outdated it hangs on desperately
for survival then is destroyed
pipers of modernisation
call for new tunes
unplanned beauty emerges
out of the tangled rubble
This has come to light after lying dormant, following the workshop based on the photographs of the dismantling of part of the inner ring road
