Oak Tree
Placid Empire
Success
A slow deliberate success
Roots in historic earth
Self motivated, seeking no help
Rising cell by cell through storm and quake
Day by day its industry unleashed;
Flourishing banners in the wind
Standing free
Sampling the morning mist
Exploring the upper air
Trading carbon in the market place,
Dealing gas for gas
Drinking the rain
Roots at work in the water-mine below.
Cells dance with limited intentions
Live where they were born
Practise moderate devotions
Drink breakfast every day
Secure within their civilised church
A great religion bereft of heretics
An empire with no rebels
Untroubled state with smooth procedures
Umbrella to many species.
Arms outstretched, open
Waiting for what may happen
This happy realm
Cellular city, intentions subdued,
Its future long dated
Invested in acorns.
Botany's best.
